Review of the Month

Treachery by Janele Nicole
This urban fiction was so good. I was pretty upset that the book ended. It would say that this book was geared toward women but I can see a man enjoying this book just as much as a woman. The title of the book could not be a better match for it. The meaning of treachery according to Merriam- Webster dictionary is " harmful things that are done usually secretly to a find, your own country, etc. or the act of harming someone who trusts you ". And that is all throughout this novel. Pay close attention to the cover of this book because you will see how every component of this book was depicted in the cover. I have to say that the author did a great job with coming up with the cover themselves. Big ups for that!
The main plot of this novel surrounded the unhappy life of Monica. She ' d been in a relationship with Stacks for many of years only to feel ignored. Stacks gave very little time to Monica but made time for others( people and things). Knowing that he was in love with her, she was left thinking " what is a girl to do?" Monica played innocent until her skeletons from her past came busting out and demanding love. Other players in this circle of friends will see the end of their lives because of the actions that they have decided to take. This entire book is nothing short of a five star read. It was just that good.
No editing, grammar, spelling or punctuation issues were found in this novel. There was plenty of thought put into this novel. I hated the way it ended because the novel went into warp speed near the ending. That rushed feeling wasn ' t a problem because I was fully drawn into the story but keep that part in mind for future work. The characters are the novel were exactly like I thought they would be. Some people live a fast lives yet still possess a heart that is looking for more. The intertwining of the subplots made the

This vampire versus werewolf story was a great standalone read for someone that want everything in one book. The backdrop of the African American female gave the novel an invite to those that only read African American authors. The cover does the story so much justice with the male on the cover in attack mode, indicating a battle would take place.
It was very well written and I did not find any mistakes that came to grammar or organization of the novel. There was a solid beginning with action coming from page one until the end. There were very vivid scenes where the reader will feel like a fly on the wall. I do not feel that this author wanted this story to be geared towards a certain reader but to all readers who love vampire and werewolf tales. Every character had their time to shine and they were developed to give each background information and a purpose in this novel.
I felt that one missing element would bring about romance readers because it contains an element of love. The plot surrounded a male character who has to prove himself as a leader. This book reminds me of Twilight series but for African Americans with an urban twist. The fight between werewolves and vampires was epic. Dominic was ready to take to take over what he perceived to be an easy task but little did he know that it is way more difficult than he presumed. Everyone had an issue but will all hearts and minds be clear when the book ends? If you love a vampire vs werewolf tale, if you loved
That Church Life by Teresa B. Howell
Talk about drama! This story had a lot of it plus more. The three main ladies are all relatable and interesting. Each lady represented a struggle we all have faced as we grow in our faith. This was a good story with a strong lesson to be learned about your own faith.
To begin, the cover was a bit generic for the story content but nothing was generic about the story line at all. I didn’ t really get into the story until around the third chapter, and authors want to pull readers in from page 1. Once I nestled into the story, it began to roll, causing the reader to overlook the small mishaps. Editing made up for it with its flawless writing and water flow.
After reading this story, everyone will walk away with some growth in his or her faith. This book depicts first hand that just because you ' ve walked away from God, He will never walk away from you. The ending leaves you with a lot of anticipation and begging for part 2. Overall, great read. I can see this book being a great addition to a Christian book club and everyone enjoying it. I can also see it as a read for the contemporary woman who ' s spiritual as opposed to religious. I would recommend to all my fellow Christian fiction fans.
