Bound by Eden by Tabitha Sharpe
( AVAILABLE ON AMAZON) I will start off by saying this: I ' ve never been one who liked books about the afterlife or mystical angels. I could never get into those types of books but this story definitely changed my mind.
As far as editing goes, I didn’ t find hardly any mistakes in the book. The book was easy to read and was a fast paced novel. I didn’ t realize how fast I was reading it until ninety minutes after I started I was finished.
The introduction of the characters was smooth and you could picture each person that was in the book. I could imagine how their personalities just from the author ' s description.
In my opinion, the story came off a little elementary in the beginning. To break that down, the sentences could ' ve been a little stronger in a lot of areas. In other areas, the plot was a little dry. I was pulled into the story once the main character started talking about her early life as a single mother to her son. I could relate to certain parts of the story and I felt like I was reading about my life during some parts. Reading the book had me very emotional and crying because I could relate to the horrible motherdaughter relationship that Jana had with her mother. I could also relate to the struggle of being a single mom and giving my all to my child. The way that the story ended left unanswered questions so I presume that there will be a part two.
Great first read from this genre.
Hope Fu Love by H. K. Collier( AVAILABLE ON AMAZON) Let me start by saying the cover really threw me off. It had absolutely nothing to do with the book and it came a bit off creepy. It didn ' t depict what the story was about. In terms of the title, I couldn ' t figure out where it came from until I actually looked inside the book and saw that it represented the name of the main character. This book could definitely double its readers if the cover was more appealing and relevant to the book itself.
This novel flowed very well and had very minor grammatical errors. I did not have a hard time keeping up with the many characters or the changes throughout he story.
The plot gave an impressive glimpse into that era. The author did a great job with the dialect of the characters. It ' s easy to tell that he is either from the south or has a close connection with someone that is very familiar with this timeframe. The main character of the story was diagnosed with Down Syndrome. As the main character, I found Hope to be a very interesting, but not as interesting as Helen. It was something about Helen ' s strong and“ matter of fact” persona that really intrigued me as a reader. She ran that farm like a Boss, and I loved how newcomers were always surprised to find out she was the overseer.
The fact that this book touched so many issues that African Americans faced during the slavery realm, it helped me to see a different side to slave owners, or should I say“ Massa’ s”. This book was made for the hopeless romantic reader.
Fight for Our Love by Jontu’( AVAILABLE ON AMAZON) This was a first read by this author, and being that I could see what she intended with this story, I will say that I enjoyed some of the story for the most part. As I read the story, I found myself laughing and smiling w / the characters.
The biggest LOVE I found in this story was the strength that Trisha possessed. She wasn ' t the typical young thot that you find in most urban tales. Trisha carried her sister, her grandmother and herself while working full-time and going to school full-time. She didn ' t allow disrespect from her dudes and she didn ' t accept cheating like most weak characters. I hated how she went from " take no bullshit " to follow along because she stopped trying. That ' s a huge downside to her strength.
The book went from past to present, and it was noticeable. The plot finally arrived towards the end of the book and it did nothing for the story as a whole. Overall, the story was an ' ok ' read. The ending didn ' t offer me a glimpse into the next book.
