The murder of George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis ( USA ) on 25 May 2020 led to numerous demonstrations in cities all over the world , including Spain . On 7 June of the same year , the CNAE collective ( Community for Black African and People of African Descent in Spain ) called for demonstrations throughout Spain , in solidarity with the demonstrations that were taking place on a global scale . Cities such as Barcelona -in plaça Sant Jaume- and Madrid -in front of the US embassy , in plaza de la Castellana- gathered around 3,000 demonstrators , but many other Spanish cities called to support the mobilisation joined the act of protest . These included Salamanca , Bilbao , Murcia , Malaga , Zaragoza , Tenerife , Valencia , Cordoba and Logroño . The slogans and manifestos uttered at the protests linked the event to structural racism in Spain , condemning specific aspects such as the immigration law or the Immigration Detention Facilities ( CIES ), and other cases of racist violence committed in the country ( the murders of Lucrecia Pérez , Mame Mbaye and Idrissa Diallo , the deaths in the Mediterranean , the 14 deaths in El Carajal ...).
