Description
During a match between Real Madrid and Valencia FC at the Mestalla stadium ( Valencia ), one of the Real Madrid players , Vinicius , was the victim of a racist attack . The Valencia Public Prosecutor ' s Office has opened an ex officio investigation into an alleged hate crime in relation to the insults that the player received .
Meanwhile , demonstrators gathered in front of the Spanish Consulate in Sao Paulo ( Brazil ) to protest against the racism shown towards the player “ with chants of ‘ Racist La Liga ’ and demands to the Spanish government to take action in the context of racist attacks against Real Madrid striker Vinicius Jr ”. Brazil ’ s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva also condemned the racist insults against the player , and called on the authorities to take action : “ I want to extend my support to Vinicius , a young man who is undoubtedly Real Madrid ’ s best player , and who has suffered from repeated attacks . I hope that FIFA and other bodies will take action to prevent racism from taking over football ”.
