3.1.3 Responsibilities Members of this category shall : a . contribute to the organizational and administrative affairs of the Medical Staff ; b .
c . actively participate as requested or required in activities and functions of the Medical Staff , including clinical coverage , quality / performance improvement and peer review , credentialing , risk , and utilization management , medical records completion and in the discharge of other staff functions as may be required ; and
fulfill or comply with any applicable Medical Staff or hospital policies or procedures .
3.1.4 Senior Status ( Exemption from Emergency Department Call )
Members of the Active Staff who meet the following criteria may request removal from responsibility for providing specialty coverage in the Emergency Department and other rotational obligations :
• Age 55 or older with ten ( 10 ) years of ED call coverage , or
• Age 60 or older with five ( 5 ) years of ED call coverage , or
• Age 65 or older
The request should provide at least 6-month notice . The department and section chair shall recommend to the MEC whether to grant these requests based on need and the effect on others who serve on the call roster for that specialty . The MEC ’ s recommendation shall be subject to final action by the Board . Any such request that is granted by the MEC and the Board is subject to change by the determination that call coverage in the member ’ s specialty area is not adequate .
3.2 The Affiliate Category 3.2.1 Qualifications
The affiliate category is reserved for new Medical Staff members who do not meet the eligibility requirements for the Active category .
Prerogatives Members of this category may : a . attend Medical Staff , department , and section meetings of which he / she is a member and any Medical Staff or hospital education programs ;
