Youth In Relay T his year HNIRC found a record number of junior/kid relay teams competing at the “Championship of Champions” in Billings, Montana 2017 and at accredited races this summer. The growth of the young racers in the sport of relay has made it a priority to highlight the accomplishments and determination of the young racers and their ponies. Kids relay racers are 7-11- years-old, their relay ponies are under 39”, and consist of 3 ponies, 4 team members; 2 muggers, 1 catcher and 1 rider. Junior relay rac- ers are 12-14- year old’s, their ponies are 39”- 45” and consist of 3 ponies, 4 team members; 2 muggers, 1 catcher and 1 rider. Eight teams in Kids Relay Competed at the Championship of Champions and four teams in the Youth Relay. Consolation 1. Little Pikuni Express, Reis Reevis, Blackfeet 2.
