Mind (Cont’d)
As a strong wind sweeps away a boat on the water, even one of
the roaming senses on which the mind focuses can carry away a
man’s intelligence. - BG 2:67 -
Mind is the center of all the activities of the senses, and thus
when we hear about sense objects the mind generally becomes
a reservoir of all ideas of sense gratification; and, as a result, the
mind and the senses become the repositories of lust.
- BG 3:40, purport -
Just fix your mind upon Me, the Supreme Personality of Godhead,
and engage all your intelligence in Me. Thus you will live in Me
always, without a doubt. - BG 12:8 -
The nature of the mind is flickering and unsteady. But a self-real-
ized yogé has to control the mind; the mind should not control
him. One who controls the mind (and therefore the senses as
well) is called gosvämé, or svämé, and one who is controlled by
the mind is called go-däsa, or the servant of the senses.
