Serving your community is rewarding. Sharing those rewards with others and inviting them to serve the community with you can only improve your community. People coming together helping their community will enrich the lives of people in the community. The community will become more stable and a better place to live. When people see you and others like you serving the community it will bring in others who desire to make a positive impact on the community.
Serving others is fulfilling. It can lead you to your life’s purpose or simply allow you to help your community. There are many reasons why people choose to serve. Some choose to serve to make the world a better place, some serve to improve a skill, and some serve because they feel it is the right thing to do. Regardless of the reason positivity is being spread throughout the community, and that is good for everyone involved.
The next time that you see a homeless person on the street, or children with nowhere to go afterschool ask yourself if there is anything that you can do to help make the community a better place for them. Ask yourself if there is a way that you can improve their lives. It may be as simple as serving a meal at a local mission for the homeless, or becoming a mentor to a school aged child. If there is another person that you see struggling in some other area that you have a passion for, find a way to serve that population. Serving others and showing love and compassion is what life is all about. Showing someone else the type of love and compassion that God had for us is a gift. Reach out your hand and help someone in your community. In some cases, it will only take a few hours of your time a month to help someone else but the impact of serving will have a lasting impact on your life for years to come.
