Chairman’s Report 2013 From an Elders Council perspective 2013 has been a year of seeing some big plans come to fruition before starting on the next series of areas that we are sensing need attention. This year we have seen the commencement of the building project; we have seen Enrich Life grow and systematically add to the suite of programs that it offers; we have seen the launch of a Chinese language service under Pastor Gordon. For each of these areas to come into being it has required vision, calling, a sense of ownership from individuals and a great deal of hard work. From a Council viewpoint it is very rewarding when we have wrestled with these issues early on, looking at the vision and purpose of them to then see them become real life ministry impacting others. Over the past few years there have been many legislative changes that apply not only to boards of major companies but also to boards (or a council in our case) of not for profit organisations. The implications of these changes are significant for the people who make up these groups. Even if they are operating in a voluntary capacity and receive no financial income for any work that they do they may now be held personally legally liable for failings at this level.
