Child protection continues to be a huge area of importance to us and we appreciate all
of you who get your police checks, attend mandatory notification courses so that we can
run the ministries that we want to do.
So what does 2014 herald? With all of the significant changes that been applied to
boards (or a council!) I sense that next year requires us to look at both our constitution
and governance. Whilst this may not fill many with overwhelming excitement strategically
it is a crucial area to have right so that it in no way can ever become a barrier to
effective ministry or impair the ability to follow God’s leading as a church.
All this being said one of my greatest joys as chairman is that we have spent most of the
last few years wrestling with the challenges brought by life and growth in our church
rather than death and failure. Whilst the issues are not always easy or quick to resolve it
gives me great pleasure to see a genuinely multigenerational, multicultural, evangelistic
church seeking to find new ways to impact our community.
In closing I would like to just say a word of special thanks to both the ASG and building
committee. There are always many people who work hard in church life but as Chairman
having worked closely with these two groups this year they have all done an outstanding
job throughout the year.
