Benefits of Entrepreneurship
There are many benefits of entrepreneurship, Zimmerer and Scarborough (2005:6)
state that these benefits may include:
● Prospects of developing your own fate, entrepreneurship and independence work
hand in hand, this is the reason why entrepreneurs venture out on their own.
● The chance to make a difference, this is a combination of societal ills together
with earning a good living.
● Reaching your full potential, becoming an autonomous individual and becoming
synonymous with your business.
● The prospect of earning a better living and reaping extraordinary benefits, this is
a strong motivator for entrepreneurs.
● Contributing to combating societal ills.
● Proving to yourself that you are capable of great things.
Disadvantages of entrepreneurship as stated by Zimmerer and Scarborough
(2005:6) include:
● Uncertainty of producing an income.
● Losing your entire investment as a result of an uncalculated risk.
● Excessive working hours.
● 100% responsibility for the risk associated with starting your own business.
Entrepreneurs weigh their options before making decisions, they take risks involving
higher benefits that will outweigh disadvantages.
