Benefits of Entrepreneurship There are many benefits of entrepreneurship, Zimmerer and Scarborough (2005:6) state that these benefits may include: ● Prospects of developing your own fate, entrepreneurship and independence work hand in hand, this is the reason why entrepreneurs venture out on their own. ● The chance to make a difference, this is a combination of societal ills together with earning a good living. ● Reaching your full potential, becoming an autonomous individual and becoming synonymous with your business. ● The prospect of earning a better living and reaping extraordinary benefits, this is a strong motivator for entrepreneurs. ● Contributing to combating societal ills. ● Proving to yourself that you are capable of great things. Disadvantages of entrepreneurship as stated by Zimmerer and Scarborough (2005:6) include: ● Uncertainty of producing an income. ● Losing your entire investment as a result of an uncalculated risk. ● Excessive working hours. ● 100% responsibility for the risk associated with starting your own business. Entrepreneurs weigh their options before making decisions, they take risks involving higher benefits that will outweigh disadvantages.
