we have journalists who are very interested in our product and have [received]

For Mohonk Mountain House Spa
Director Nina Smiley, the event is an
opportunity to reacquaint themselves with
the people they need to connect with.
“It’s very efficient to do it all at once,
when everyone is in the same place at the
same time,” she says.
Miraval Resort and Spa CEO Michael
Tompkins says the ISPA Media Event
“gives ISPA members the chance to
connect one-on-one with leading spa,
travel and beauty editors.”
“I’m still scheduling interviews with
journalists I met with at the [ISPA] Media
Event. [Last year,] I was interviewed along
with members of my team for a full halfhour episode on Miraval which aired on
ABC News’ Travel Therapy show. This
was a direct result of the Media Event.”

Featured Treatments
This year’s event featured a range of treatments, from the latest in hand and foot
treatments to sleep and massage fusion
techniques, among others.
Rest Your Aching Feet
Invited journalists were treated to a therapeutic “Sugar Foot Scrub” which
included a towel cleansing and a Bon
Vital lavender sugar scrub exfoliation
from Massage Envy.
The Spa at Regent Palms in Turks and
Caicos offered an “Oriental Essence Foot
Ceremony” which featured an exfoliating
spiced marmalade scrub followed by an
energizing massage using smooth
pebbles wrapped in fragrant bags soaked
in warm oil.
Clarins combined the sense of smell
with touch by providing an energizing
leg treatment called “Path to Renewal”
which used aromatherapy to balance
and restore energy.
Sweet Dreams
Mohonk Mountain House brought their
team from the New Paltz, New York spa
to teach the media how to get some relaxing “shut eye.” Their treatment called
“Solutions for Modern Living: Attainable
Sleep!” allowed guests to recognize the
fundamentals of falling asleep, including
relaxation, aromatherapy, a soak and
massage.
Also emphasizing good sleep techniques, Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat
showcased its “The Australian Spirit of
Sound” treatment which opened with a
brief yet powerful meditation. High-quality
basalt stones were placed on key areas of
the body, followed by a fusion of massage
techniques, choreographed to carefully
selected Australian music and sounds of
nature.
Purple was a popular theme throughout the event, and Aspira The Spa played
into this theme with their “Indigo
Journey” which featured a balancing
massage, using chromatherapy and wood
violet-infused oil.
