11:30 a. m. Thursday, Dec. 11, Special Populations Holiday Luncheon This event invites individuals with special needs to come together for a delightful afternoon of connection and fun. The luncheon offers a welcoming environment where participants can dance, laugh and share experiences with peers. This event is for ages 15 and older and their caregivers. Cost is $ 10 per person.
2 p. m. Sunday, Dec. 14, A Cozy Movie Matinee with " Elf " Join us for a joyful afternoon as we watch the holiday classic " Elf!" at the Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd. Wear your coziest holiday pajamas, grab your blankets, pillows and chairs and settle in for some fun! Admission is free, but registration is required to reserve your ticket. Come laugh, relax and spread a little holiday cheer, Buddy the Elf-style!

Parks earn recognition
Parks and Recreation is proud to be a part of the team officially presented Nov. 17 with the American Planning Association( APA) Great Places in Florida People ' s Choice Award for The Port District & Pioneer Park. This award recognizes outstanding public spaces that are well-planned, foster community connection and reflect local culture and identity.
Temporary field closure at Jessica Clinton Park
Beginning Dec. 2, softball fields 1 and 2 at Jessica Clinton Park will be closed for renovations. As part of this project, the City has contracted XGD Systems, LLC to complete drainage improvements that will enhance overall field quality and playability.
These drainage upgrades will provide several key benefits, including:
• Faster drying times after rain, reducing game delays and cancellations
• More consistent playing surfaces, improving safety for athletes
• Better turf health and long-term field durability
• Reduced standing water and muddy conditions, allowing for more dependable field use
The project is expected to take approximately 31 days to complete. We appreciate the community’ s patience and understanding as we work to improve the park for all users.
9:30-11 a. m. Friday, Dec. 19, Pancakes with Santa Enjoy breakfast and holiday fun with Santa, create a holiday craft and listen to festive music. This event is for children 7 and younger. Cost is $ 10 per person.
Express Abs added to class schedule
Fitness is thrilled to introduce Express Abs, a dynamic 20-minute class designed to power up abs in record time. The class will be 8:30 a. m. Tuesdays and Fridays at the MIDFLORIDA Event Center. www. PSLParks. com
