Federal Legislative Program
The Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Team presented the 2026 Federal Legislative Program to City Council on Nov. 10 for approval.
The adopted program includes key initiatives to strengthen infrastructure, public safety and economic development. Among the top priorities are new deep injection wells at the Rangeline and Glades water treatment facilities, along with specialized armored vehicles to support law enforcement and emergency response.
To address flooding and improve resilience, the City is seeking federal funding to move forward with the Oak Hammock Stormwater Project and new multimodal paths in the Torino area. These efforts aim to protect neighborhoods, enhance mobility and support active transportation. Economic development also is in focus, with revitalization plans for Walton & One and infrastructure improvements in the Southern Grove Jobs Corridor.
The City also is advocating for broader federal support, including Everglades restoration, veterans’ mental health services, opportunity zone program and expanded access to grant funding. With a growing population and forward-looking agenda, Port St. Lucie is aligning local needs with federal priorities to build a safer, more connected and resilient community.
