Port St. Lucie invited to inaugural Global Public Innovators Summit
Deputy City Manager / Chief Innovation Officer Kate Parmelee was invited to a gathering of innovation leaders from around the world at the inaugural Public Innovators Summit, hosted by the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University.
The summit was designed to help connect local government innovation practitioners to learn from each other and strengthen how public institutions work differently to deliver impact. The team is excited to bring new ideas to Port St. Lucie and to help advance the field of public innovation through this network.
Supporting the City strategy through department workshops
On Nov. 4, the Strategic Initiatives and Innovation( SII) team held an engaging and insightful workshop with the Office of Management and Budget. Together, we delved into the Strategic Plan, crafting thought-provoking " how might we " questions to spark creativity and foster innovative solutions.
Discussions were lively and productive as we explored potential adjustments to department goals and focused on developing more effective performance metrics. The enthusiastic participation and leadership of OMB ' s team enriched our conversations.
In a similar spirit of collaboration, the SII team organized its own workshop Nov. 14. Our team worked to develop our new vision for the next year and identify ways to further advance the City’ s Strategic Plan and support the City’ s residents and team. www. CityofPSL. com
These department workshops, encouraged between October and January, offer invaluable opportunities to sharpen focus on our goals, strengthen team bonds and refine metrics for future planning. We left these sessions inspired and motivated, ready to turn our collective ideas into actionable plans for the City ' s continued growth and success.
