SII presents 2026 State Legislative priorities
On Oct. 13, the Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Team presented the 2026 State Legislative Program to City Council for approval, outlining key funding requests to support the City of Port St. Lucie’ s priorities in the upcoming state legislative session.
In addition to ongoing dialogue regarding property tax reform, this year’ s program seeks funding for water quality and supply projects, including improvements at Hog Pen Slough, the Rangeline Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility and the Glades Wastewater Treatment Facility. Additional requests include support for Smart City Policing through drone expansion, design upgrades for the Community Center and resources for land acquisition and policy changes to enable high-performance public spaces. The City also asks for continued support for economic development initiatives in Southern Grove and the Jobs Corridor.
These legislative priorities will advance to the state level as Port St. Lucie continues to pursue funding to meet the community’ s evolving needs.
At the Oct. 29 State Legislative Delegation Meeting, Mayor Shannon Martin presented the State Legislative Program to Sens. Gayle Harrell and Erin Grall, and Reps. Dana Trabulsy and Toby Overdorf.
We appreciate the Legislative Delegation ' s ongoing support and advocacy for the City, and we look forward to working with them this legislative session.
