Recent grant awards
City departments work collaboratively through the Grants and Advocacy Team, led by the Strategic Initiatives and Innovation team, to support funding for City priorities in alignment with the Strategic Plan. The following grants were recently awarded:
U. S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services FY25COPS Hiring Program:
Partnership helps launch Conservation Corps
Members of the SII team partnered with the Office of Solid Waste to plan the launch of the new Naturally PSL Conservation Corps at new neighborhood gathering spaces and added a pop-up clean up, too!
The partnership helped envision a stronger Village Green Drive Corridor through the multi-departmental High-Performance Public Spaces Team, working to increase the public benefits to residents on City-owned properties.
Citizen Summit kick-off meeting
The City held its first internal, all-department meeting Oct. 22 to officially launch planning for the 2026 Citizen Summit, which is set for Feb. 7 at the Community Center.
It marked a pivotal moment in aligning teams across departments to deliver one of the City’ s most impactful community engagement events. By starting preparations early, the team is setting the stage for a well-coordinated, resident-centered event that reflects the City’ s commitment to transparency, collaboration and innovation.
• U. S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services FY25COPS Hiring Program: Funding in the amount of $ 500,000 to establish a full-time Marine Unit with four Marine Patrol Officers to strengthen border security while reinforcing public safety and trust in law enforcement along PSL’ s coastal corridor.
• U. S. Department of Justice Office of Community Policing Development Microgrants: Funding in the amount of $ 75,582 to develop and implement a realtime tracking and accountability system in support of Stratified Policing, a proven, evidence-based crime reduction and community engagement business model.
• Florida Department of Transportation( FDOT)/ Keep Florida Beautiful( KFB)- KAB Affiliates Litter Prevention Education: Funding in the amount of $ 15,000 to assist in sustaining a volunteer grassroots program that involves community participation to prevent litter, minimize the impacts of litter, enhance economic prosperity and safely preserve the quality of our environment and community. www.
