Port St. Lucie Among 15 Global Cities Selected for the Managing Talent in Local Government program at Harvard University
PSL in progress tour Highlights Work Advancing Council Strategic Plan and Naturally PSL
Civic Designer and Bloomberg Harvard Fellow Nikki Zheng coordinated an impactful tour of various City projects in progress and of potential lands for acquisition.
The tour highlighted recent sites of land acquisitions, areas of critical infrastructure investments such as roadway improvements and water quality projects, recent success in green space improvements and examples of High- Performance Public Spaces in the City.
Traveling together through the City, Council members heard project updates and planned improvements across different districts, giving them the opportunity to discuss challenges and opportunities with staff in real time. An important way to ground policy discussion in lived community experience, this bus tour helped City leadership align resources and strengthen the collective vision of the City’ s Strategic Plan.
A team representing the City of Port St. Lucie was honored this month to be at Harvard University for the Managing Talent in City Government program from the Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative, part of a class of 59 leaders from 15 global cities. City governments are powered by people, and this program is equipping our City Hall to build a highperforming team, putting leading talent strategies to work for the benefit of residents.
The Port St. Lucie Team included Chief Assistant City Manager Teresa Lamar- Sarno, Deputy City Manager and Chief Innovation Officer Kate Parmelee, Utility Systems Director Kevin Matyjaszek and Assistant Public Works Director Louis Johnson. The team will work on deploying strategies learned in the program to support talent throughout the organization in partnership with the Human Resources Department and other City departments.
The City’ s participation was funded through the competitive program, and we are grateful to Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University for helping local governments build critical capabilities for serving our community: https:// lnkd. in / e _ 46kUz3
