We are incredibly proud of our remarkable first cohort of six high school interns. Over the course of the eight-week paid summer program— and for many, their very first job— they demonstrated tremendous growth, confidence, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to learning.
Our interns were placed in six City departments: Public Works, Parks and Recreation, Facilities Maintenance, Human Resources, the Office of Solid Waste and the City Attorney ' s Office. In addition to gaining valuable hands-on experience in their assigned departments, they participated in weekly enrichment sessions covering topics such as public speaking, personal budgeting, public service and finding work they love, résumé writing and interviewing skills. They also toured the City ' s Utility Systems Department, where they learned firsthand about another essential service that supports our community.
The program concluded with a graduation ceremony and meet and greet, where the interns showcased what they learned throughout the summer to City leadership, employees, family members, friends and representatives from St. Lucie Public Schools. Their presentations reflected not only the skills they developed, but also the confidence they gained during the program. They truly impressed everyone in attendance.
A special thank you goes to the departments that welcomed an intern this summer and to the many employees who served as mentors, shared their expertise and helped make this inaugural program such a success. Your investment in these students is helping shape the next generation of public servants and community leaders.
Planning is already underway for next year ' s P. A. T. H. Internship Program. We look forward to welcoming another outstanding group of students and continuing to invest in the future workforce of the City of Port St. Lucie.
