Bank stabilization project at Sagamore Terrace
Public Works assessed the area and shoreline at Sagamore Terrace and identified it as a great location to implement a dredging and geotube project.
After removing existing debris and vegetation, geotextile tubes were positioned along the shoreline in a series of rows to create a stable barrier. The geotubes were then filled with dredged material. The geotextile fabric allows water to drain out while retaining the solid material to create a stable structure. Once filled, the geotubes were covered with a layer of sand and soil to help integrate the structure with the surrounding environment. Additional vegetation was planted to support with the stability and stabilization, improve water quality and enhance the overall habitat. www. CityofPSL. com / PublicWorks
