20th annual Hurricane Preparedness Expo
The 20th annual Port St. Lucie Hurricane Preparedness Expo was a tremendous success, bringing our community together to learn about preparedness at the beginning of hurricane season. More than 1,600 residents attended this year’ s event, showing once again that our residents are interested in learning more about how to prepare in the event of a disaster.
With more than 50 vendors and exhibitors, attendees were able to connect directly with experts offering hurricane‐related products, services and preparedness resources. The exhibitor hall was active throughout the day, giving residents the opportunity to learn about storm‐ready home improvements, emergency supplies, insurance guidance and recovery services.
This year’ s presentations featured local meteorologists from WPBF and WPEC, who delivered valuable updates on forecasting, storm behavior and seasonal outlooks. Emergency managers representing St. Lucie and Martin counties, the City of Port St. Lucie and the Florida Division of Emergency Management( FDEM) provided essential preparedness tips and answered residents’ questions directly. Their combined expertise helped ensure our community has the knowledge needed to stay safe before, during and after a storm.
As we celebrate the success of this year’ s event, we also want to remind everyone of the expo’ s core message: now is the time to prepare. Don’ t wait until a storm is close or a warning is issued. Building a kit, making a plan, understanding your evacuation zone, reviewing insurance and staying informed are steps that need to be taken before a storm threatens our region.
