Robert Carlsen wins APWA Orange Heart Medal Award
Sending a huge shoutout to Robert Carlsen for winning the esteemed APWA Orange Heart Medal Award! In the wake of Hurricane Helene, Robert took swift and impactful action, teaming up with the City of Port St. Lucie Public Works Leadership Team to launch a hurricane drive. His efforts led to the successful collection of vital items for those in desperate need within our community.
But Robert didn ' t stop there. When Hurricane Milton hit soon after, he sprang into action again, extending the donation deadline and setting up convenient dropoff locations in Port St. Lucie, Stuart, Sebastian, Fort Pierce and throughout St. Lucie County. His dedication didn ' t go unnoticed; the campaign received media coverage, sparking a wave of generosity from several organizations, including a church in South Carolina that graciously sent a trailer full of supplies to the Public Works warehouse.
Robert also collaborated closely with the Florida Chapter to pinpoint the areas most in need, ultimately zeroing in on St. Petersburg. He didn’ t just coordinate from afar. Robert personally ensured
the delivery of essential items directly to local residents. Remarkably, he accomplished all of this while still supporting his own community.
In addition to these incredible efforts, Robert has taken a proactive step by joining a committee with APWA to enhance support initiatives throughout Florida, paving the way for future storm responses. His unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership truly make him a deserving recipient of this incredible honor.
