Help us celebrate Arbor Day
The City of Port St. Lucie is proud to continue its tradition of environmental stewardship and urban beautification by celebrating Arbor Day this April. This year, the City will formally recognize Arbor Day with an official proclamation during an upcoming City Council meeting, reaffirming the community ' s dedication to maintaining and expanding its urban forest.
Residents and visitors are invited to join the annual Arbor Day celebration at 2 p. m. April 24. The event will feature a ceremonial tree planting at the intersection of SE Green River Parkway and SE Berkshire Boulevard, providing an opportunity for the community to come together, connect with nature and contribute to the City’ s green legacy.
Arbor Day, first observed in 1872, is celebrated each April and traditionally includes the planting of trees as a way to honor their profound impact on our environment. Trees are essential to our community’ s health and well-being: they improve air quality, reduce noise and temperatures, prevent soil erosion and provide habitat for a variety of wildlife species. By participating in Arbor Day events, residents help foster a more sustainable, livable city for generations to come.
The City of Port St. Lucie’ s commitment to urban forestry is further demonstrated by its longstanding recognition as a Tree City USA, earning national and international accolades for 21 consecutive years.
These honors reflect the City’ s efforts to manage its urban canopy thoughtfully and promote environmental awareness throughout the community.
