Congratulations to Melissa Huckstable, NSD Code Officer of the Year!
Melissa Huckstable in an invaluable Code Officer, who continuously shows her professionalism and dedication consistently in the scope of her duties. She is a Specialty Officer who handles some of the most difficult cases that Code deals with on a daily basis.
Melissa handles vacant lot cases, community residential homes and recovery residences. She always is looking for innovative ideas to assist with processes when she notices there is room for improvement. She has worked extensively with staff, supervisors, outside agencies and other departments within the City to open communication and improve these processes. She has personally worked with detectives with the Port St. Lucie Police Department to assist in felony cases, resulting in three felony arrests within the last six months, and is in the process of working with the State Attorneys Office to gain convictions.
Melissa is honest, dedicated, professional and knowledgeable. Her honesty was tested when a citizen tried to bribe her with cash because of an impending case and not only did her honesty shine through, but she also retrieved the evidence needed to prosecute. This evidence was collected because of her quick thinking in the moment, which proves she can keep a level head when put into an unethical situation.
Melissa continues to make her supervisors and management proud, and it is a pleasure working with her every day. She is a wealth of knowledge and always is willing to learn more and continues to strive to become a better Code Compliance Officer.
We are honored to announce Melissa as our Code Compliance Officer of the year for 2025.
