On September 23 and 24, 2018, the Toronto section of the AES will present Seminar
2018: The State of Our Sound. The event will profile the many facets of Canada’s current
audio economy and coincides with the 70 th anniversary of the AES and the 50 th anniver-
sary of its Toronto chapter.
Day one of the event will look at recorded music production, with Canadian studio
owners, managers, recording engineers, producers, and musicians, and also include an
address from the AES president and a to-be-named keynote speaker. The first day will
also feature seminars on various aspects of live sound and host a banquet celebrating the
future of audio in Toronto. Day two will look at broadcast and film production with focuses
on VR audio, webcasting, and live streaming, as well as sessions on acoustics, architecture,
and installation. There will also be a cocktail reception and networking event.

Division Hires Keith Danby
as Senior Business

Rob Poretti, regional sales manager of
Solotech’s Integration Division in Toronto,
has announced the appointment of Keith
Danby as senior business developer.
Danby is responsible for growing
Solotech’s integration business and market
share in Southern Ontario and the Greater
Toronto Area. More specifically, he will be
developing new and existing business
accounts in the corporate, government,
and institutional segments.
