Installer Support
SCHEME HELPS INSTALLERS STAND OUT
Research shows that
people are taking a long-
term view of their property
and making sure that their
homes will be suitable for
years to come. However,
homeowners must also
be aware of the necessary
requirements when it comes
to roof refurbishment and
the effect that unauthorised
building works may have on
the sale of the properties. As
the squeeze on compliance
tightens, they are being
urged to look for Compe-
tentRoofer installers who
can self-certify their roof re-
furbishment work complies
with Building Regulations.
Roof Assured by Sarnafil
has been working with the
NFRC (The National Federa-
tion of Roofing Contractors),
who manage the Compe-
tentRoofer scheme, to offer
reduced membership rates
to Roof Assured installers
(England and Wales) due
to the robust training they
receive on the installation of
the Sika Sarnafil products.
This means that qualifying
installers will be identified
as a Roof Assured Com-
petentRoofer and able to
self-certify that their roof
refurbishment work com-
plies with Part L Building
Regulations. Additional
benefits include a ten-year
insurance backed guaran-
tee and breach of Building
Regulations and contractor
insolvency.
Richard Lawton, regional
sales manager, Sika Sarnafil,
said: “Consumer protection
is very important to us
and a quality service and
installation reflects on the
roofing sector. Homeowners
have every right to benefit
from a proper installation
and more will be expecting
installers to be Competent
Roofer members. An install-
er who can demonstrate
their competence through
professional accreditation
will certainly make their
business stand out from
the crowd. Our installers
undergo rigorous training
and assessment, so it makes
sense to take that one step
further by supporting them
to gain accreditation within
the scheme.”

Steve Thornton, manag-
ing director of High Tech
Membrane Roofing Ltd, said:
“As a roofing company, the
scheme has made life easier.
You can be compliant and
get the right paperwork in
place for customers. There
was some commitment
needed on our behalf to
subscribe but it’s about
differentiation and showing
that we’ve done our bit as a
company. The Sarnafil single
ply membrane is a premium
product and homeowners
expect guarantees, longer
life, product development,
installer training and techni-
cal support. For customers
