Student Competitions .
Monash Business Ideation Challenge
To attract social-minded students and to promote equitable access to education , the School initiated a scholarship competition for pre-university students in Malaysia . Students were challenged to develop a business idea that balances commercialviability and social impact , and to pitch to an industry panel . The winning idea was from Nicholas Suryapurta , an Indonesian student who pitched “ TooKang ”, an online handyman services platform that aimed to train and hire a refugee workforce , giving refugees the opportunity to earn a living . Nicholas joined Monash University as a student in 2020 .
UNDP Youth Co : Lab 2019 >
Top 3 Business students Divyah Thiagu and Bridget Moh Yi Min emerged Top 3 at UNDP Youth Co : Lab Malaysia , held in November 2019 . They developed edible products like stirrers and ice cream spoons to reduce single-use plastics .
Market Simulation Challenge
In the age of disruptive technology and Industry 4.0 , adaptability , problem-solving and perseverance is everything . The Market Simulation was a collaboration between Monash Entrepreneur Club and eiHub to provide an avenue for students to grow in their entrepreneurial mindset and tackle current social and environmental challenges . This challenge provided a platform for the students to network and to learn from mentors within the entrepreneurial ecosystem . Students spent the day working and learning from mentors and experts from diff erent industries to conduct validation , design prototypes , develop business models and prepare pitch decks to present the feasibility and viability of their ideas .
