The Monash University ’ s motto , Ancora Imparo ( I am still learning ) refl ects our continuous search for knowledge . At the School of Business , we believe that the most valuable learning experiences occur outside the classroom . And in refl ection of our motto , we conduct campus wide activities that build knowledge , raise awareness and offer opportunities for students to experience the impact of building a sustainable future and meeting their social and environmental responsibilities .

ASEAN Data Science Explorers Competition 2019 >
Champions Business students Leong Zhuan Kee and Peh Wei Li were crowned champions at the ASEAN Data Science Explorers Malaysian National Finals 2019 organised by the ASEAN Foundation and SAP . By harnessing SAP Analytics Cloud software , each team developed data-driven solutions that highlighted six sustainable development goals namely Good Health and Wellbeing , Quality Education , Gender Equality , Decent Work and Economic Growth , Industry , Innovation & Infrastructure and Sustainable Cities and Communities that can contribute to solving the region ’ s most pressing social issues .
“ There was a lot of hard work and we spent countless hours on research and development to come up with our food sustainability solution ,” said Zhuan Kee . Both students went on to compete and represent Malaysia in the global competition that was held in Bangkok , Thailand in October 2019 .
Malaysia Cross Industry Virtual Hackathon 2020 >
First Place John Woo Jia Jun , Liew Kwok Jie and Lee Yang Ler from the School of Business won 1st place at the Malaysia Cross Industry Virtual Hackathon organised by RISE & MDEC . The team competed in the Agriculture category with the problem statement of ‘ How can we identify bacterial & virus prone plants , and prevent it from spreading ’. And their solution consisted of building a Crop Management Tool for farmers to identify and prevent early clusters of certain plant diseases ( SDG 15 Life on Land ).
“ We built our prototype using Machine Learning techniques to extract plant symptoms , as well as HTML and CSS for the front end web application . It was truly an eye-opening experience to build an application within a 48-hour span ,” said John Woo .
HSBC Malaysia Business Case Competition 2020
First Runner-Up Jessie Lim , Zhun Yi , Daniel Sia and John Lee from the School of Business won First Runner-Up at the HSBC Malaysia Business Case Competition 2020 . At the fi nal round , the team was tasked with advising a fi n-tech consortium to expand its block-chain technology of handling increasingly complex transactions for fi nancial and non-fi nancial institutions , while navigating the challenges of regulatory oversight .
