Australia’ s Biggest Morning Tea
Even the weather was on the side of Council and Department of Lands staff for Australia’ s Biggest Morning Tea. People came out in droves to support the Cancer Council’ s fundraiser out front of the Lands Department in Lachlan Street, to enjoy a cuppa and some of Hay’ s finest scones, cakes and slices.
Pictured left: Raffle prize for the day was a hamper of coffee products, donated by Coffex Coffee. Jane Symons presented the basket to lucky winner John Dorrestyn. John, who comes from Adelaide, has been working at the Council for a couple of weeks.

The Morning Tea and raffle raised over $ 1,900 which helps the Cancer Council fund cancer research, prevent and control cancer, and provide information and support for people affected by cancer.

They decided to“ pop in and have a cuppa,” and met Jimmy and Sue Little, Betty Hanslow and Thora Doidge. The two couples felt right at home and spent a considerable amount of time enjoying a cuppa and their new friends.
“ We’ ll have to stay until tomorrow now,” laughed Keith. The family decided to visit some of Hay’ s attractions and continue their trip the next day.
