Official Re-Opening of Hay Tennis Courts
Hay Shire Mayor, Bill Sheaffe, cut a red ribbon to officially reopen the Hay Tennis courts on Sunday 18th August 2013. Club President, Warren Hunt, in his welcome speech, thanked everyone that had been involved in the massive undertaking to pull up the old synthetic matting, relay the new and for all the work done to ensure tree roots do not become a problem again on court 3 and 4. He also thanked everyone who made the reopening a fantastic event. The Hay Tennis courts are a great facility and a credit to our town and Bill Sheaffe hopes that people get a lot of pleasure from them. The first synthetic courts were laid at the Hay Tennis courts in 1990. With a life expectancy of ten years, they have done not bad. Fourty players took to the courts at the re-opening, and enjoyed morning and afternoon teas as well as a lovely bbq lunch, on a day when the wind was most unkind.
