centre. There is a nice short walk
down to the beach where in late
July to early September you can
observe the spectacular migration
of semi-palmated sandpipers
and other birds of their ilk. They

aerobatics that should not

P.E.I who have taken to Alma in a
big way and provide an
excellent product.

and on to Cape Enrage. Cape
Enrage is the home of one N.B.’s
oldest lighthouses. You can
rappel, zipline, eat and enjoy
of one of the finest coastal 270
degree views that you will
ever see. On a hill overlooking the Bay are
the Vista Ridge Cottages, open
year round and which provide a
great view of the Bay. There isn’t
any shortage of fine lodging in
the Village.
After coming away from “The
Cape” you continue on route 915
being treated to more impressive
vistas until you reach Alma, it is
the gateway to Fundy National
Park which is the land of salt and
fir. Alma is a quaint little fishing
village where the fishing boats sit
on the ocean floor at low tide and
then ride the high tide 30 ft. up
to become almost even with the
deck of the wharf. Another spot to check out that
is rather unique in its culinary
options and its creek side patio is
called the Octopuses’ Garden.
In Alma you will find the Buddha
Bear Café and the Holy Whale
Brewery both located in an old
United Church which has been
repurposed rather cleverly. On
any given day you will find 7 or
8 of their beers on tap and always

Sadly, I have only scratched the
surface of what is available to
you along this fabulous drive.
There are artisans galore, a
classic half moon sandy beach
(Waterside Beach), a winery and
many other B&B’s, campgrounds
and many more places to eat.
Did I mention that if you feel
oppressed by the summer heat in
the City, it is always cooler on
“The Road to Alma”.
