Nava also joined Cynthia Swanson to lead the ETC-sponsored Middle School Committee Round Table Discussion , which created a warm community to share practical strategies for younger learners .
Several other committee members also presented workshops :
Traci Dougherty ended her term as ETC Past Chair by presenting as part of the panel for Advocacy at Non-Classics Conferences and “ It takes a Villa : Creating and Engaging your Community .”
Excellence Through Classics connected with members at home and in St Louis at the 2023 ACL Institute . Executive Committee members worked hard to create an engaging presence in the exhibit hall , during lively sponsored sessions , via a Goosechase digital scavenger hunt , and through a social hour .
Executive Committee member Jennifer Jarnagin co-led “ Teaching the Culture Standards : A Systems Thinking Approach ,” and Awards Chair Amy Mason presented “ Using Novellas in the Exploratory Latin Latin Class .”
ACL honored longtime ETC committee member Nava Cohen with the 2023 Merens Award for sustained and distinguished service to the classics profession and to ACL in particular . The Institute itself highlighted some of those contributions . Nava and Krishni Burns led a workshop on Calliope ’ s Library . The Library is an online database created with the goal of connecting young readers with books about or inspired by the ancient world . Nava also serves on Calliope ’ s committee .
