WHAT ’ S YOUR DREAM JOB ? HOW DO YOU THINK THE STUDY OF CLASSICS WILL HELP YOU ACHIEVE THIS DREAM ?
I used to want to be a writer , but my dream job is being a judge in the Supreme Court .
There are so many things wrong with the world , and I ’ d like to try and clean it up with power . I ’ ve found that many of my friends , including those who are in my Latin class , don ’ t believe that I ’ d ever use classics in being a law practitioner . However , I agree to disagree . Some of the greatest minds came from Rome and Greece . Obviously , their methods of fixing their cities and government are different from ours , but when I study classics , especially history , I can find what the ancient thinkers got right and what they got wrong . For example , Cicero versus Cataline makes me think about power abuse and how people dedicated to saving their city one thought at a time could work in modern times . There are so many pieces of classics I could pick out to help me better understand the ways people think , which is a major part of judging one ’ s character , faults , and strengths .

BESIDES ACADEMICS , WHAT ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT ?
Although academics is a giant part of my life and something most kids at my school know me for , I am also passionate about creative and graphic arts . I love acting , and I ’ d like to pursue it in my free time . Even though I didn ’ t do theater this year due to other conflicts and commitments , I try to practice and enjoy being on the stage . I ’ m also a graphic artist , and that shows in how I manage everyday activities . Obviously , I can illustrate and prefer going for realism , but I also use my knowledge and imagination to help me in my more creative academic projects , such as creating Powerpoints for presentations .
In the fine arts category , I dabble in band . In the fall to early spring , I play the flute in my school ’ s marching band , and I ’ ve even made it to honor bands . Unfortunately , my band teacher passed away this year , but that ’ s why I ’ ve decided to be even more passionate about playing my instrument ; I need to honor his memory and remember as much as he wanted to teach me . Marching band is really the only sport I ’ m good at because I ’ m unfortunately not blessed with athletic abilities even though I tried my hand at track and field . However , I do possess a strange skill of jumproping incredibly well . I ’ m also an avid reader and devour novels at an alarming rate .
