Rogers Fire: Serving a growing community

The Rogers Fire Department was established in 1931. The department responds to more than 800 fire / EMS calls each year, covering the cities of Rogers, Otsego and portions of Corcoran.
The fire department is comprised of six full-time staff members and is authorized to have up to 45 paid-on-call firefighters. All firefighters are trained and certified in Firefighter I and II, Hazardous Material Operations, Emergency Medical Responder or Emergency Medical Technician and Fire Apparatus Operator. The required training takes approximately two years to complete.
The Rogers Fire Department is also responsible for emergency management in Rogers, with the fire chief serving as the emergency management director. The department also has a fire prevention division headed by the deputy fire marshal, who conducts initial construction plan reviews and inspections as well as ongoing annual business inspections. The deputy fire marshal also provides public education to local businesses, schools and civic organizations.
The Rogers Fire Department, Hennepin County Emergency Management, Minnesota Department of Human Services and Minnesota Department of Homeland Security are responsible for opening the reception center in case of an emergency at the Monticello Nuclear Plant. Rogers Fire is one of eight fire departments in Hennepin County that is equipped with a life safety trailer. Rogers Fire Department members and the life safety trailer respond to large fire / emergency events in Hennepin County and set up rehab stations for firefighters. The life safety trailer is equipped with medical supplies, tents, heater, defib units, cooling chairs and fan, generator / lights and blankets.
