Salt Water Swimming Pools
Salt and other chemicals needed to sustain swimming pools are harmful to local wildlife and local ecosystems . A byproduct of saltwater pools is the organic pollutant bromoform , which affects the brain , liver , and kidney function in animals . Discharging salt or draining saltwater into a nearby creek or stream can cause the salt content around the drain site to rise to dangerous levels , killing plants and wildlife .
Contact City Staff for more information on how to properly drain your swimming pool . Check out the GETTING HELP page at the end of this handbook .
