Egypt National Day Celebration The Ambassador ' s Speech
would like to thank you all for coming tonight to celebrate with us our National Day that Imarks the 63rd anniversary of
Egypt ' s peaceful revolution in 1952 which toppled the monarchy and turned the country into a republic without shedding a drop of blood and paved the way for Egypt to achieve its independence. Since the independence of Egypt and Nigeria, two of the biggest countries in the continent, have enjoyed friendly relations and stood by each other in different historical events. Back in the 60 ' s, Egypt supported the unity of boundaries, no religion and no mercy. Being aware of that fact, the leaders of Egypt and Nigeria echoed the same message of peace and called on the world to unite against extremism. Despite the attacks that wanted to undermine our future and take us back to dark ages, we celebrate today to show our commitment and determination to create a better future for our country and our continent. Today we are more determined than ever to move forward with our country and our continent towards a better future against the extremist ideologies
Nigeria and fought with it against the separatist movement. After more than 60 years, Nigeria did not forget Egypt ' s support and returned the favor by supporting Egypt ' s application to resume membership in the African Union in 2014.
Today, the two countries are facing the same challenges and fighting the same battle in different territories. Last week brought heinous attacks to both Egypt and Nigeria. The attack in Egypt claimed the lives of the Egyptian Attorney General and 17 Egyptian soldiers. The brutal attack in Nigeria claimed the lives of ten s of innocent people in a clear message from fanatics and extremist that they know no that spread nothing but hatred, fear and destruction. Our determination to have a better future for our country, continent and the whole world is not mere words, this determination is a fact that grows inside us and inspires us before
turning into reality that grows on the ground d in front of our eyes every single day. After four turbulent years politically and economically and against all odds, Egypt is moving forward towards restoring the democratic process in
