back to Georgetown but it was something tugging at me to move back. I was worried because there is little here economically and good jobs were scarce. I moved back for 2 reasons. The first was that God was calling me. I believe God wants me to help expand opportunities here in Georgetown. The second reason I moved back was to marry Shawnta. We have a vision for this city. We live a well life here. It is tough here but I look at the reality of our area, the dynamics and lack of amenities around and pray. God gave me a charge to help restore this area. So our people will be excited about graduating, going off to school and coming back to this area to find great jobs.
Shawnta: After college, I went to DC. I found out really fast, that wasn ' t for me. I lived there for
2 years, and it was rough for me because I didn ' t consult with God about moving there.
Pastor Q: To God be the glory.
Shanna: What advice would you all give to other married couples? Shawnta: Keep God in it. He is the string that binds us together. You have to communicate,
you absolutely have to talk to each other. God will set everything straight.
Pastor Q: The key thing is you must be selfless. Marriage is not just you. It ' s about your
spouse. You get married to better the other person. Whatever you put out into your marriage, you get back. When I think about me and Shawnta, my question to myself is what can I do to make us better. You can ' t change a person. A wife ' s worship to God should be how she treats her husband.
Shawnta: My advice is to the single women out
there that are waiting for their Boaz( husband). While you are single, take all that time to get to know God. Ask Him to give you the spirit of discernment so may recognize your husband when he comes to you.
Pastor Q: You are supposed to have a spouse
that has a relationship with God. You should marry someone that shares the same faith as you as well as ideas and beliefs. It is important to be equally yoked to your spouse. It is much easier to walk together in unity and fulfill the destiny that has been designed for you both as one unit.
Shanna: You are absolutely correct Pastor Q!
Where did you go on you guys ' first date?
Pastor Q: Our first date was at Aunny ' s
restaurant on Front Street in Georgetown. I even remember what I ordered. I ordered a seafood dinner.
Shawnta: I remember what I had also. It was the
turkey gravy, rice and yams. It was so delicious!
Shanna: Yes, Aunny ' s is a great restaurant.
Everyone should eat there! They have the best food.
