Undergraduate Programme Handbook Aug 2013
TIMESCALE FOR MODULE AND DEGREE COMPLETION A 12 week module completion timeline is applied to each module and a formal assessment submission date is specified. It is incumbent on you to take responsibility for submitting your assessment on time and for communicating clearly with your module leader if you experience any difficulties that may interfere with achieving the submission date. Non submission by the given date will result in this attempt being recorded as a fail.
You will be expected to complete your studies within 1 – 3 years part – time dependant on ScotCAT point requirements, with a maximum of 3 years to complete the programme of study. The expectation is that completion of all required assessments for the full degree is completed within that time. The enrolment period is calculated to include study breaks which sometimes become necessary, particularly for distance learning during the course of study.
If it is unlikely that you will be able to complete the credits you require within a 3 year period, you will be timed barred from completing your studies and notified accordingly.
Exceptionally your enrolment period may be extended by up to one year subject to the provision of evidence of mitigating circumstances and College Board approval. The university regulations can be seen here:
GETTING STARTED……
It is imperative that once you commit to your degree programme you immediately start to plan carefully how you will integrate your studies effectively into an already busy life. Calculating the amount of study time required for a module is an inexact science and is dependent on many individual variables. For example, some students may have been away from academic study for a considerable period of time. Students generally quicken their pace through the programme once they gain familiarity with the structure and the educational approach.
?
Time management is therefore an essential component of your degree programme and is considered to reflect your willingness and ability to commit to your studies and timely module completion.
