Entry requirements
A second class honours degree in Pharmacy ( BSc , BPharm or MPharm ), registration as a practising pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council and two year ’ s UK-based patientfacing experience post-registration .
Applicants require the written agreement of a Designated Medical Practitioner to mentor them throughout the course and the support of their employing organisation where applicable .

Independent Prescribing for Pharmacists PgCert Advance your career as an experienced practicing pharmacist into a specialist area and become qualified as an independent prescriber within a clinical setting .
Develop your clinical examination and consultation skills , and build on your understanding of pharmacology and therapeutics , to inform evidence-based management decisions alongside patients within your chosen scope of practice .
Learn from experts in the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences and the School of Health and Care Professions , and be supported by experienced clinical pharmacists as you develop your competencies portfolio . Study topics including pharmacology and therapeutics for prescribers , clinical skills for prescribers , and professional aspects of prescribing . Improve your counselling and consultation skills in our practice dispensary facilities where you ’ ll consult with patient actors , and build on your clinical simulation expertise in our clinical skills suite , featuring both CAE and Laerdal human patient simulators .

CONTACT TIME
Each academic year is divided into two teaching blocks : September / October to December / January ; and January / February to May . Teaching on this course includes online learning , seminars , workshops , and practice .

Physician Associate Studies MSc Take the next step to becoming a Physician Associate , a recent and innovative addition to the medical team .
Become part of the wider clinical team , under the supervision of a General Practitioner or consultant . Gain the attitudes , skills and knowledge to assess and examine patients ; initiate and interpret investigations ; and then recommend an appropriate management plan .
Work with simulated patients in our extensive simulation and clinical training facilities . Learn to take medical histories , perform appropriate clinical examinations , make diagnoses , analyse results , and devise management plans . Experience a range of practice-based learning opportunities across the region , putting everything you ’ ve learnt into practice , under clinical supervision and mentorship .
Graduate ready to successfully undertake the national exams , and with the clinical skills and knowledge to become a confident medical professional , working and learning under the guidance of experienced colleagues while assisting patients across a range of healthcare settings .

CONTACT TIME
Most teaching takes place during the day , Monday to Friday . You may occasionally need to go to university and course events in the evenings and at weekends . Some clinical placements may require shift pattern attendance .

Entry requirements
An upper second class honours degree or equivalent , and demonstration of the ability to study at postgraduate level ( typically applicants who have graduated within the last 3 years ) or equivalent professional experience .
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a good level of Biomedical Science knowledge , and applicants with Arts and Humanities will need to undertake Biomedical Studies in order to apply . Applicants who have started or completed degrees in Medicine are not accepted .
