La Irenita vs. El Paraiso( 14-12), concluding with the match between Ellerstina vs. La Aguada LM( 14-9). In this manner the teams to reach the quarter finals had been defined.
THE EXCITEMENT OF THE QUARTER FINAL MATCHES
The anticipation for the quarter final matches were slightly « dampened » by thunderstorms which caused the original playing dates to be changed to November 28th and November 29th. Once the matches went underway, it was all about great polo. What added to the excitment was the fact that due to the change in format, the teams disputing the quarter finals would go on to play the semi finals against the two giants of Polo: La Dolfina and Ellerstina.
The first quarter final match held on November 28th saw the teams of Alegria and La Irenita facing each other, in which Alegria defeated La Irenita 13-11. The second quarter final match held on November 29th was played between La Aguada LM and Cria Yatay. It was quite a surprise to many Polo aficionados to see Cria Yatay defeat the powerful Novillo Astrada brothers’ team 14-10.
