Co-Curricular Harriet jumps for joy in qualifiers !

Our long-term trips programme was published earlier this term - a richly populated list of trips which comprises short and long-haul trips , covering a whole range of subjects and activities . The ski trip for the lower school was a welcome addition to the programme , while the History , Classics and MFL Departments are organising overseas residential trips designed to enhance what they deliver in the classroom .
Our trips programme is something of which we remain extremely proud - thank you to parents and students alike for receiving it with such enthusiasm . Bring on next term and the travels that await !

Edward strikes gold

Harriet Hodge , Third Year pupil and member of the Pocklington School Equestrian Team , has qualified for the prestigious Horse of the Year Show , which takes place at the Birmingham NEC in October this year .
Harriet has competed in two qualifying events so far this season . Her three clear rounds at the first summer pony premier at Arena UK near Grantham , qualified her for the Newcomers Championship at the Horse of the Year Show . Then over the Jubilee weekend , Harriet was competing again at the Equestrian Centre in Cheshire , where she secured three more qualifications .
Harriet and her pony were on incredible form , with a unique treble win , in which she won all three of the major qualifying classes - Newcomers , Foxhunter and the pinnacle class , the Pony of the Year Showjumper . One rider at the same show has never achieved this before . What makes this even more of an accomplishment is that Harriet won the Newcomers and Foxhunter on a new pony , Queen Mac , who only became acquainted three weeks earlier .
Winning the Pony of the Year Showjumper qualifier was a huge step up for Harriet and her pony Charlie , with a starting height of 1.35m , increasing to 1.40m in the jump-off . Neither rider nor pony had jumped a course of this size ever before .
October is set up to be a very exciting month for Harriet – we will be eagerly watching her progress !
Congratulations to Third Year Edward Milner on his archery success at the Penrith Double Clout : two Golds , three trophies , including best junior clout ( closest to the flag ), best junior male barebow and two new Yorkshire records !
