OPs gather to remember

Boarding

It has been a long and active term for our boarders . It began with our Boarders ‘ Induction Day ’ when we welcomed new boarders and their families to meet staff and each other , as well as tour the whole school . Outside of lessons , boarders have had opportunities aplenty to get together and try new experiences , from whole boarding events such as giant inflatable races , a formal Christmas dinner , over ten trips off-site ( from a theme park visit to football matches ) and on-site masterclasses such as a ‘ Graffiti ’ workshop . We now wish our boarders a happy and restful holiday .

We were delighted to welcome members of the John Dolman Society and OPs to the annual service of remembrance held at the Pavilion on 11th November . After coffee in the Archive Room , where items of particular interest were on show , guests gathered with the whole Pocklington School community for the service . Members then enjoyed a school tour , followed by lunch in the Dining Hall . This was a lovely morning spent in reflection , also sharing happy memories of time at School .

Academic update

This term has seen a huge array of opportunities for pupils to enrich and extend their academic studies within and beyond the classroom . In September , we celebrated the European Day of Languages with our annual Bake-Off competition , whilst October marked National Poetry Day as well as Black History Month . In November , our attention turned to International Men ’ s Day and the RSC ’ s Chemistry Week . Meanwhile , our Young Enterprise teams have worked hard throughout the term on their product development , while our Tycoon teams have also developed their entrepreneurial skills . Throughout the term , pupils have also participated in competitions and trips including Maths Challenges , Geography trips to Blencathra and Bridlington , art exhibitions , theatre visits to A Doll ’ s House and Little Women , not to mention a history trip to London and the ever-popular Classics trip to Greece .
