Debbie ’ s golden work anniversary

Staff at Pocklington School recently celebrated an extraordinary milestone for school cook , Debbie Stringer , a dedicated member of the team who has devoted half a century to Pocklington School .
With an academic year of 180 days and considering the average number of pupils over the past 50 years , it is estimated that Debbie has contributed to more than 1.5 million breakfasts and teas , as well as over 4 million lunches !
Despite having the option to retire , Debbie has no immediate plans to end her tenure after 50 years at the School .
Debbie said : “ I ’ ve thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with everyone . I ’ ll be back to work tomorrow though !”

Katy passes music diploma with distinction

Our newest Fourth Year recruits adapted quickly to the challenges and varied opportunities within CCF and within weeks of joining had taken part in their first field day . Along with our senior cadets , they journeyed to Driffield Training Area and although it rained pretty much all day , spirits didn ’ t dampen , and we were able to train across many activities including shelter building , camouflage , concealment and patrolling .
As part of their regular training , Fourth Year cadets have been enjoying air rifle , skill at arms , navigation and survival . The RAF have been focusing on their RAF basic training . As the year progresses , we will be introducing more field craft training and by the summer term , the Army cadets will be ready for an overnight and blank firing exercise which will enable them to qualify as one star cadets .
We have a committed and well experienced Fifth Year who have started their Method of Instruction training . This will enable them to assist in the delivery of training next year . Our senior NCOs have been busy in support of our officers with the leadership of training .
In October , our senior Army cadets took part in Ex Merlin Manoeuvre . We competed against over 30 CCF and ACF teams at the Catterick Training Area and thoroughly enjoyed the challenging experience .
In November , our Fifth Year and Sixth Form cadets proudly represented the Contingent and Pocklington School within the Pocklington Town Remembrance Parade .
Only a couple of weeks ago , a ten strong RAF team took on the challenge of the Regional Air Squadron Trophy . Well done team RAF !
We now look forward to next term , where we will be taking part in another field day on Monday 10 M arch . We will continue in our preparations for our May half-term Adventurous Training expedition , and we hope to see our new training shelter taking shape . It is a busy and very exciting time for the CCF !
