Sports report

Across the Senior School , sport continues to flourish . A number of pupils have progressed to representing the county or region at rugby , hockey , cross country and our equestrian team continues to excel with several pupils qualifying to represent East , South and West Yorkshire .
Participation in our Rugby programme is thriving , evidenced by fielding three senior teams for the first time in over four years during the second weekend of term , leading to three victories . We have also had our first ever Lower School non-contact fixture against Hill House and on the same afternoon every single boy in First and Second Year represented the School in fixtures in the A , B or C team .
Ted Malcolmson , Henry Clegg , Tom Pearson and Theo Roberts have been retained in the Yorkshire Rugby Academy following a summer training window - all four players are currently training once a week in preparation for Academy League places in January . Jack Scanlon has been invited into the Yorkshire Rugby Academy on trial for five weeks following his impressive start to term . Theo Roberts has been selected as an England Academy Player ( EAP ) and has signed a contract with the academy that gives him extra support in his ambition to become a professional player .
In our Girls ' Hockey programme , the 1st XI team won the President ' s Cup against Hymers . The U14 team , who had maintained an undefeated streak through nine matches with an impressive goal difference of + 41 , faced defeat in the third round of the National Tier 1 Cup against RGS Newcastle . Every girl in the Lower School has participated in at least one game for the School , and they all competed in a full match against Hill House School . Additionally , the U13 team has advanced to the area round of the In2Hockey national competition .
Niamh Clements is representing Wakefield Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI each weekend in the Division 1 North of England Hockey National Leagues and Jemima Councell , Giles Rowley and Niamh Clements are part of the England Hockey Talent Academy pathways .
In cross country , Imogen Stevens has had an outstanding start becoming East Riding Cross Country Champion and our Equestrian team have qualified for the championships at Hickstead next year . The team consisted of Hope Jones , Anna Falkingham , Martha Fell and Anna Nelson .
