Charity Week
This year ' s Charity Week was truly unforgettable . Charity Week is an annual event aimed at raising funds for various charitable causes . At the beginning of the year , each house selects a charity to support , with options ranging from local , national , international and environmental organisations .
Each house presented a wide range of activities , including delicious bake sales , blackjack games , bacon butty stalls , tombolas and more . Pupils were actively involved in setting up stalls , showcasing their musical talents on drums and even offering a car wash service in the rain .
The charity committee organised a series of main events throughout the week . The excitement started with musical statues and various other games hosted by YorkMix Radio for First and Second Year pupils , resulting in numerous prizes being won . On Tuesday , came the highly demanded pizza and waffle sales , which despite a few cream spills here and there , brought smiles to pupils ' faces as they tucked into the break time snacks . On Wednesday , the highly anticipated gunging took place , with Head Boy and Head Girl securing third place with 400 votes , Ms Sargeant grabbing second place with 472 votes and Mrs Peel emerging the clear winner with 585 votes . The gunging auction was very successful , raising over £ 600 alone . Despite the dreary weather on Thursday , pupils gathered in St Nicholas ' quad for another Charity Week tradition - musical chairs . There was a buzz of excitement as one by one the chairs and pupils were whittled down to find the lucky winner .
In total , Charity Week raised an impressive £ 4786 which will be split between the four chosen charities : Young People Count - Pocklington ; Royal British Legion ; Ocean Conservation Trust ; Anti-Slavery International . A massive thank you to everyone who helped bring the week together , participated and donated . See you all next year !
