Early Years, Primary Education & PYP
What is the PYP?
The PYP is a curriculum framework designed for young learners, guided by the IB learner profile. It recognizes children’ s natural curiosity, creativity, and ability to reflect, fostering a stimulating learning environment that nurtures the whole child and instills a lifelong love of learning. The PYP follows a transdisciplinary approach, integrating knowledge, conceptual understanding, skills, and personal attributes through inquiry-based learning. Students explore six key inquiries throughout the year: Who We Are, Where We Are in Place and Time, How We Express Ourselves, How the World Works, How We Organize Ourselves, and Sharing the Planet. These inquiries encourage students to see learning as an interconnected journey, developing a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

In the Primary Years Programme, play is key to learning, promoting curiosity, problem-solving, and social development. Children express themselves through art, movement, and storytelling, while language development is supported by songs, stories, and role-play. Mathematics is explored through play and real-life experiences. Our environment includes sensory play, construction, and inviting reading corners. Outdoor learning, including weekly Forest School sessions, fosters movement, risk-taking, and independence. The OPAL * program offers daily outdoor play with diverse zones for physical, emotional, and intellectual growth. Students enjoy activities like construction, sand play, monkey bars, and den building, supporting their development and well-being. * Outdoor Play and Learning
Primary Years
The PYP curriculum framework centers on transdisciplinary learning, allowing students to explore concepts between, across, and beyond traditional subject boundaries. This approach fosters authentic, inquiry-based learning that is engaging, significant, challenging, and relevant. Our Primary staff inspire and challenge students to reach their personal and academic potential. By modeling lifelong learning, they help students recognize the importance of reflection and action in their learning journey. An inquiry-based approach builds on individual knowledge, interests, and understandings, encouraging deeper thinking while developing critical thinking skills. PYP students take initiative, developing responsibility and ownership of their learning. Through inquiry and reflection, they gain knowledge, conceptual understanding, and essential skills outlined in the IB Learner Profile, preparing them to make meaningful contributions to their lives, communities, and beyond.
