High School Instructors:
Goal Setting
All high school instructors should create three professional goals and one personal goal. All goals should be aligned to each instructor's role.
Example:
1. Goal #1: Increase by a minimum of 7% proficiency per year in math.
2. Goal #2: Ensure that 80% of scholars in the classroom score at least 80% or higher on the end of course assessment.
3. Goals #3:
4. Personal Goal
It is best practice for teachers to give a pre/post test to gauge scholar learning. However, the way Top-Line Goal #2 is written, teachers DO NOT need to give a pre-test beforehand because scholars will simply take the end of course assessment attached to the course syllabus. ALL teachers DO need to have their EOC assessment approved by the school leader at the beginning of the year. The EOC exam or final exam, should be based on the standards and competencies taught during the course. Some courses, like art and PE, may have a portfolio or rubric-related skills check for the EOC Assessment. Again, all goals need the school leader's approval.
