Individualized Education Programs( IEPs)
Section 504
When concerns regarding a child ' s development or educational progress are identified, a comprehensive evaluation may be recommended through the PPT process.
Evaluations are conducted only with parent or guardian consent and may include information related to:
• Communication skills
• Cognitive development
• Social-emotional development
• Physical and motor development
• Adaptive and self-help skills
• Educational performance
Evaluation results are reviewed collaboratively with families to determine appropriate next steps.
Individualized Education Programs( IEPs)
Children who are determined eligible for special education services receive an Individualized Education Program( IEP).
An IEP is a written plan developed to meet a child ' s unique educational needs and outlines goals, services, accommodations, and supports.
Services may include:
• Specialized instruction
• Speech and language services
• Occupational therapy
• Physical therapy
• Transportation
• Other related services designed to support educational access and participation
Services are provided in the least restrictive environment and are individualized based on each child ' s needs.
Section 504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act protects individuals with disabilities from discrimination and ensures equal access to educational opportunities and school programs.
