Illness and Exclusion

Head Start Health Requirements

Head Start is a comprehensive early childhood program that includes health, nutrition, and wellness services.
Head Start families may be asked to provide documentation related to:
• Dental examinations and preventive dental care
• Well-child healthcare visits
• Follow-up care recommendations
• Other health requirements outlined by Head Start Performance Standards
SELC staff work closely with families to support access to healthcare providers, community resources, and needed follow-up services.

Health Services

Our Health Manager and School Nurse, Jennifer Maier(" Nurse Jen "), works closely with families and staff to support children ' s health, safety, and wellness throughout the school year.
Families are encouraged to contact the Health Office with questions regarding:
• Health requirements
• Illness and exclusion guidelines
• Allergies and medical conditions
• Medication administration
• Nutrition concerns
• Health-related accommodations

Illness and Exclusion

Children should remain home when illness prevents them from comfortably participating in school activities or when symptoms may place other children and staff at risk of illness.
Families will be contacted if a child becomes ill during the school day and needs to be picked up.
