Renown Health is not being sold to Kaiser Permanente. Renown Health remains independent and will provide vital services to the joint venture’ s health plan members through long-term contractual relationships. Renown Health will continue to accept all current health insurance plans for patient care and will be the Kaiser Permanente plan hospital system for northern Nevada.
There will be several joint operating committees between Kaiser Permanente Nevada and key parts of Renown, including Renown Medical Group and Renown Acute Care. These joint operating committees will work to establish best practices, seamless care pathways, and optimized digital experiences for Kaiser Permanente Nevada members that will use Renown services.
“ Pending regulatory approval, we are excited to bring Kaiser Permanente’ s integrated care and coverage model to Nevada which will bring additional resources to those we serve, including digital self-service platforms for patients, innovative health education programs and care management infrastructure. These tools are designed to complement— not replace— the expertise of physicians and care teams,” said Bethany Sexton, MBA, CEO of Hometown Health.
Sexton adds,“ Specifically, Kaiser Permanente Nevada will establish a comprehensive value-based care infrastructure across northern Nevada, allowing us to differentiate our plan offerings based on value( higher quality, lower cost and outstanding customer experience) in an increasingly competitive insurance market.”
“ Employers face rising costs on many fronts, including health coverage,” said Sexton.“ A key goal of this joint venture is to deliver greater value to employers and their employees and improve the health of those we serve.”
By combining Renown Health’ s trusted local reputation with Kaiser Permanente’ s proven valuebased care model, the joint venture reinforces not-for-profit health care in northern Nevada while delivering on what members and employers have been asking for: high-quality, affordable coverage close to home.
During the regulatory review process, which is expected to conclude in early 2026, nothing changes for patients, members or providers. Care teams remain the same, and practice operations continue without disruption.
Physicians remain central to this effort. Your expertise, commitment and patient relationships are the foundation of care in northern Nevada, and they will be vital to the success of Kaiser Permanente Nevada. Together, we have an opportunity to expand access, improve outcomes and build a healthier community.
